  • Spray Foam Roofing is expensive: This notion is common against the public today. But this is actually the most affordable and also reliable roofing system in today’s world. This is not only effective, but also affordable. Once the roofing is done, it lasts for about 50 years. Hence repetitive maintenance costs are also not incurred.
  • Spray Foam roofing does not last: This is an incorrect belief. Once you get the roofing done, you can forget it for the next 50 years. This is a durable roofing system and has a long life expectancy.
  • Harmful effects to the surroundings: When there is an overspray, wind may carry the extra spray to the neighboring areas and damage the cars and other vehicles parked. For this, only the required amount should be sprayed so that there is no damage. Also, the vehicles should be removed while the application is in process.
  • Harmful effects to humans: The key ingredient in Spray Foam Insulation is hazardous if it is directly inhaled or on contact with the human skin. This problem can be avoided by strictly complying with the guidelines of the manufacturer. The safety regulations have to be followed. The spray can also stick with everything it comes in contact with. Hence safety precautions should be followed.
  • Walking is not possible on Spray Foam roofing: It is indeed true that a sharp object has the power to create a hole. However, on correct application of Spray Foam roofing, it has the power to hold around 40 pounds of weight per square inch. Hence it is incorrect that walking is not possible on Spray Foam Roofing.
  • Uneven Application: It is seen in many cases that the Spray Foam Roofing was uneven. This is because this procedure involves mixing of two chemicals which has to be done cautiously otherwise the results would be uneven layers. If an experienced applicator is appointed, then mistakes like these would rarely happen.
  • It is not suitable for commercial roofing: This is the belief in many people because some commercial roofing operations had turned to be unsuccessful because of incorrect application. But these days, spray foam roofing is very durable when used for commercial roofing because of its lightweight.

This modern technique of roofing is not only effective, but also is inexpensive. Hence it has become popular for household as well as commercial roofing.

Could you do this on a traditional pitched family home (assuming you don’t
mind the aesthetics) ? Would it help with heat radiating into the attic?
